During a recent project visit to the community garden, it was clear that there was progress and that the community has begun yielding rewards from the hard work they put in.

The current chairperson of the Greater Fish River Canyon Landscape has called it quits. In a quarterly meeting held at the Gondwana Canyon Village, Mr. Mannefred Goldbeck asked to vacate his position to make way for a person who will give the position attention it deserves. Due to his very busy schedule, he is unable to focus on his chairmanship duties.

Mrs. Sue Cooper is the landscape coordinator

At the quarterly meeting held at the Gondwana Canyon Village, Mrs. Sue Cooper was nominated to serve as the landscape coordinator. This follows the resignation of the Landscape Specialist in 2014. The need for a local coordinator is in line with the Project Sustainability and Exit Plan to enable the continuation of landscape activities when the project closes at the end of the year.

One of the major challenges identified on wildlife management in the landscape is uncoordinated wildlife survey. In 2014, Gondwana recorded an exponential increase in the number of Mountain Zebras. Therefore, to improve the understanding of populations, the Landscape Management Committee has identified coordinated wildlife surveys across all properties in the landscape as critical.
