Rosh Pinah

The mining town of Rosh Pinah falls within the landscape and offers a range of services including accommodation, shops and petrol station.

Mining operations began in 1969 with the Rosh Pinah Lead-Zinc Mine. The Anglo Skorpion Zinc Mine started their mining operations in 2001, further boosting the town. It is an excellent overnight and re-supply location but not a holiday destination in itself unless you are visiting friends or family.

The landscape that surrounds the town, from Sendelingsdrif to Aus, is spectacular and beautiful. Rosh Pinah falls between the Ai-Ais / Richtersveld Transfrontier Park and the Spergebiet National Park.

Rosh Pinah is not proclaimed and does not have a municipality. The town falls under the control of the two mines, Exxaro and Skorpion Zinc.

It is included in Open Africa's Nama Padloper Route - a tourism route which has an abundance of natural attractions with unique landscapes and a diverse range of fauna and flora. Most of the route falls within the Succulent Karoo Biome whilst the area east of the Fish River falls in the Nama Karoo Biome.
