Successful clean-up within the Greater Fish River Landscape

Gondwana Canyon Park, together with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, initiated a successful joint venture to clean-up the public roads within the Greater Fish River Landscape.

The clean-up was done by staff from the two organisations and covered close to 400km of road between Naute Dam to Aussenkehr. The removed rubbish consisted mostly bottles, tyres, plastic bottles, cans, papers, plastic bags and car parts.

Over a ton of rubbish was collected, everything was sorted and divided for recycling. We would like to raise awareness and educate the public and tourists, to not litter anywhere in our country.

We plan to do the next clean-up toward end of this year and hope that visitors to the landscape, and travellers throughout the country will assist in keeping our beautiful environment clean.
